About ‘It is almost dawn 1’ (2021): “In the past few years, for various reasons, I have sometimes fallen into a state of uncontrollable anxiety and have often suffered from insomnia. When I look at the curtains at 5 or 6 in the morning, this is what I see. I used the scratching technique to paint these two paintings, which also reflect my state of mind in the past few years. These two works are also in line with the sense of ‘total casting’ that I have been pursuing from 2018 until now: a single breath, a single stroke, a sense of unity, a seamlessness and completeness like nature itself.” This series was painted over a period of two to three months, with a total of about seven paintings completed.
