In anticipation of Chou Yu-Cheng’s upcoming exhibition of new paintings at Kiang Malingue at the end of May, Kiang Malingue is pleased to announce the publication of the artist’s first comprehensive monograph.

Chou Yu-Cheng’s latest monograph is an extensive compendium of Chou’s creative trajectory to date, the publication systematically highlights works from different periods, including Chou’s works since 1999—the artist’s early experiments with sculpture and new media forms during his studies in Taiwan and France, and the development of institutional critique in works from the 2010s. This book attempts to investigate the continuity between distinct works in different stages—including the ongoing series of gradient paintings—and to examine the ways in which the artist responds to the political and economic aspects of contemporary society while addressing his own existence.

Published by Kiang Malingue, the monograph is edited by Freya Chou with essays by Freya Chou and William Smith, as well as a conversation between Chou Yu-Cheng and Lee Kit.
