Janaina Tschäpe is participating in a group show at Cidade Matarazzo in Sao Paulo entitled “Made By… Feito Por Brasileiros”. A creative invasion that will bring back to life pavilions hallways and gardens of the old Umberto Primo Hospital, known as Hospital Matarzzo. The exhibtion brings new energy into the old, poetic, building before its refurbishment. With “Made By… Feito Por Brasileiros”, the hospital will be turned into a public space dedicated to art, open to all, with the purpose to highlight the power of creativity in contemporary Brazil. In parallel to the Biennale of Sao Paulo, the exhibition will gather major names of the contemporary art scene such as Janaina Tschäpe, Adel Abdessemed, Maotas Nasr, Kenny Scharf, Tunga, Henrique Oliveira, Carlito Carvalhosa, Beatriz, Milhazes, Francesca Woodman, Tony Oursler and many more. The exhibition is curated by Marc Pottier and Simon Watson. For the exhibition, Janaina has conducted a large scale fresco directly onto the wall of the grand ballroom. Alongside the painting, the first showing of “Fern Weh”, a new video installation, shot last summer during an expedition to the Galapagos.
