Los Carpinteros have been invited by the Victoria & Albert Museum, London to produce a new commission, ‘Globo’ (2015), for the opening of its Europe 1600-1815 galleries, curated by Joanna Norman. Drawing on the reformatory design of the Panopticon and following from their Reading Rooms series, the wooden life-size installation stands amidst its neighbouring galleries as an oasis for individual reflection and small intimate events, as well as a contemporary space to “engage with ideas of the Enlightenment”.
