Yu Ji’s first publication, Yu Ji: Wasted Mud was produced to accompany her solo exhibition at Chisenhale Gallery in 2021; her first institutional show outside of Asia. The richly illustrated catalogue presents an in-depth exploration of Yu Ji’s practice to date – spanning sculpture, installation, performance and video – that is motivated by the investigation of the concept of place and the specific interplay between the human body and our surroundings.

Produced as a bilingual publication in English and Mandarin Chinese, the book features newly commissioned texts contributed by curator Polly Staple; artist and poet Yan Jun and curator Jo-ey Tang, as well as an interview with the artist by Ellen Greig, Senior Curator at Chisenhale Gallery. The book is designed by Jules Estèves.
