Edouard Malingue Gallery is pleased to share the news of an upcoming public programme, ‘We Are One?’ co-presented by M+, the Hong Kong Arts Centre and HKADC complimenting Hong Kong’s participation at the 57th Venice Art Biennale with Samson Young’s ‘Songs for Disaster Relief’. The programme, ‘We Are One?’ will present film screenings and conversations hinged on the theme of charity efforts, thereby providing a wider context for Young’s newly commissioned work for Venice.

‘Songs for Disaster Relief’ (2017), in which well-known charity fundraising singles popular in the 1980’s are re-visited and re-framed. The work aims to explore the social, philosophical, and political questions that these compositional techniques and procedures pose in a cross-cultural context. The investigation is realised in a series of drawings, objects, video, spatial sound installations and site-specific works that together constitute a unique audio-visual experience.

‘We Are One?’ will take place at Hong Kong Arts Centre Cinema, Hong Kong on 16, 17 & 23 October, 2017.
