Sun Xun has been selected for E Museum of Contemporary Art’s opening exhibition, “Hetero-entity: Myths, Narration, Imagination”. Curated by the art critic He Guiyan, the group show features a body of around 50 works by 15 Chinese artists, comprising videos, installations, sculptures and paintings. The exhibition presents the tension amid the artists’ respective positions in relation to Chinese contemporary art history’s three major currents – sociological narration, Western influences and domestic movements. As such, it seeks to address the thematic genealogy of the last 30 years, in particular how it’s manifested topics such as mythology, witch craft, folklore and personal memory. On display will be Sun Xun’s animation “Some actions which haven’t been defined yet in the revolution” (2011).
